Providing vital support to some of Sherborne’s most vulnerable residents, volunteers provide services including delivering shopping, providing food parcels, collecting medication, preparing fresh, locally sourced meal deliveries and doorstep chats to help with loneliness. Jill Warburton, founder of Sherborne Community Kitchen comments, “I have been amazed at the level of commitment, dedication and selflessness shown by all the volunteers who have played such a huge part in the smooth operation of Sherborne Community Kitchen. From cooking the delicious food, taking food orders and delivering the lunches to our appreciative customers, these men and women have stepped up and offered their time to help our communities through a very tough and difficult year. I would like to thank them all on behalf of the residents of Sherborne and the surrounding villages– our response to this pandemic would not have succeeded without them. We are enormously grateful to each and every volunteer for the time and energy they have given to support our community. I encourage anyone who would like to volunteer to sign up. Although the Prime Minister has set out the roadmap for ending lockdown restrictions, many people may still be nervous about going out, but we are all in this together and we will get through this by supporting each other.” Florence, a nine year old flutist who played her flute in Sherborne Town Centre to raise money for our charity, met a few of the volunteers of Sherborne Community Kitchen and received a big thank you for her efforts in raising £200. Socially distanced and wearing masks, our volunteers provided Florence with a bunch of flowers and chocolates to say a very big thank you for her efforts.
