After a challenging year that none of us were expecting 12 months ago we have finally made it to Christmas. This Christmas Day Jono and Dianne from St. Pauls Church have created a worship online via YouTube. Listen to wonderful hymns and prayers as well as a brief explanation of what Sherborne Community Kitchen have been up to this Christmas day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J9ZzACTngQ May the wonder of the Christmas story, of God himself coming to us, bring us hope this year. God bless, Jono & Diane The pupils of Sherborne Preparatory School were busy at work during term time, creating wonderful Christmas cards for us to deliver with our free three course lunches this Christmas day. We are sure our customers will enjoy reading the words written by the children. So we would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the students and teachers of Sherborne Preparatory School.
The volunteers would like to take this time to thank the organisations and individuals who have donated to help us deliver our three course Christmas lunches and surprises to our vulnerable and lonely Sherborne residents this Christmas Day. With the current restrictions on visiting loved ones this year, we are sure that these Christmas Day lunches will bring a little cheer to all that receive them, so once again a very BIG THANK YOU to you all.
Designed specifically for Sherborne Community Kitchen by local artist Harry Bullock, these amazing Christmas cards titled "Bringing Christmas Cheer" are now for sale. Harry has exhibited his art in London and he is a member of the Royal Drawing Society. The cards are priced at £0.50 pence each and are available from The Corner Shop, Cafe Fontana and the Naturalife store this Saturday morning and from outside the Raleigh Hall, Digby Road between 9-10:30am Monday to Friday.
Christmas 2020 will be like no other and will be a lonely and sad time for many. Sherborne Community Kitchen is delivering FREE freshly made 3 course Christmas Lunches plus FREE presents and delicious treats to 120 people who will be alone on Christmas Day. Can you spare a couple of hours on Christmas Day? We are looking for small teams of volunteer Carol Singers to follow along behind one of our 10 drivers delivering up to 12 meals in their “route”. Ideally we would like 3 Carol Singers for each route: a total of 30. We currently have a handful signed up. The plan is to meet at the Raleigh Hall and then follow ”your” driver as he/she completes their rounds, in another car or cars.
If you love singing and can help bring Christmas Cheer on Christmas Day this year please contact Sherborne Community Kitchen by emailing communitykitchenteam@gmail.com before 21st December. A very big thank you to Tina at Café Fontana on Sherborne's Cheap Street for creating this beautiful handmade cake. They are raffling the cake to raise funds for The Sherborne Community Kitchen. Just visit Café Fontana and purchase a raffle ticket. Good Luck!
